How can we defeat this antagonist of the Anthropocene? This post covers the historic and future importance of mosquito-borne disease (MBD), overviews the approaches to MBD mitigation, and makes recommendations.
Thanks, Matt. I just ordered a copy of your book which I somehow hadnt already. Or, if I did as I'd thought, I cant find my copy. You were _way_ ahead of me on this. The poverty trap article was just the kind of thing I was looking for but couldnt find. With mosquitoes it is such a clear cut case to use GE. I wish people were more pragmatic and saw things as less binary, but alas. I suppose the dogmatists are necessary sometimes, when more revolutionary (?) action is necessary.
Feel free to skip around in the book. (As you see, the pdf has the links)
I am promoting your piece in my blog later this month (the 26th) as my suggested weekend reading. You give a lot of detail and background that my drive-by bitching doesn't get into.
Nate - this piece on mosquitoes is fantastic.
If you go here:

Click on "Start Reading Now" (pdf)
you should search on "mosquito"
I think you'll find some parallels. :-)
